If you received a warning that your web server (via the wp-admin/admin-ajax.php endpoint) is taking a long time to respond, this could be an indication that the Pegasaas API may have some difficulty communicating with your website. This may be caused by:

  • the number of pages / posts in your website
  • the number of plugins installed

We see this on websites that have over 500 pages / posts, or with over 15 plugins. If your website is slow to respond, but has less than 500 pages and 15 plugins, then you may need to consider upgrading to a better web host.  We recommend using WPX.net — they are probably the fastest web host we’ve ever encountered, especially when their “WPX Cloud” system is enabled. If your website is slow to respond, but has many plugins, consider if you need all those plugins.  If you have many pages or posts, then you’ll need to consider upgrading to a web host that has a fast connection to the database, with lots of RAM.  Unfortunately, once you get beyond 2500 pages/posts, you absolutely must have a heavy duty web host.  As your website is your business, you should treat the web hosting as an investment rather than an expense.
